Our Experience
AP Design Group is a structural and civil engineering firm based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our partners bring more than 30 years of combined experience across commercial, residential, and industrial projects throughout southeast Louisiana and the surrounding region.
Our work spans a range of sectors including healthcare, education, hospitality, commercial, municipal, and multi-family residential. We design using steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and light-gauge framing, and regularly work on both new construction and existing structures.
Our experience includes structural upgrades to existing and historic buildings, as well as ground-up design. We focus on delivering practical, coordinated solutions that align with the needs of the full project team.
Our Name
Engineers are known for taking things too literally, and we did exactly that with our branding.
The letters "AP" come from a family branding iron used by our co-founder’s great-great-grandfather in Avoyelles Parish. It left a lifelong mark, and that idea stuck with us.
When we design structures, we approach them with long-term performance in mind. It’s a standard we carry through every project.
Our Team
Alex Hart, P.E. S.E.
Partner, Senior Engineer
Alex Hart graduated cum laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2012. He began his career designing heavy industrial structures in steel and reinforced concrete for a large-scale copper mining project, gaining experience in complex, high-demand environments. He earned his Professional Engineer (PE) license in 2016 and later transitioned into commercial and residential work, designing structures in wood, masonry, steel, and concrete. In 2021, he passed the Structural Engineering (SE) exam.
Alex approaches design with a focus on practicality, problem-solving, and coordination. He has deep expertise in building codes and their application in real-world conditions, along with advanced proficiency in structural analysis, modeling software, and Revit. His experience across project types allows him to produce clear, efficient designs that align with how projects are actually built.

Partner, Senior Engineer
An LSU graduate with a deep-rooted understanding of the New Orleans construction landscape. Joshua combines years of hands-on pre-construction estimating with lead engineering expertise. He focuses on the entire building process, from historic renovations to modern multi-story developments, ensuring every structure is built for permanence.

Teja Ram
BIM Engineer (STR Drafting & Detailing)
Teja is a Civil Engineering graduate (B.Tech) from Poornima University. He has experience working on residential, commercial, and institutional projects, developing structural models and drawings across steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and cold-formed steel systems.
Teja focuses on translating design intent into clear, build-ready documents. He has strong proficiency in Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), allowing for effective coordination across structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines. His attention to detail ensures that drawings are accurate, coordinated, and ready for construction.
